Bui Huu Hung

Bui Huu Hung was born in 1957 in Hanoi, graduated from Hanoi University of Fine Arts, is a member of the International Association of Lacquer Painters. His works have been exhibited in many places around the world such as London, Norway, New York, Bulgaria, Poland, Belgium and Vietnam.
Bui Huu Hung is a Vietnamese painter who has authored many lacquer paintings with classical techniques and indigenous paints. Painter Bui Huu Hung composed mainly on the topic of young women with traditional costumes, about life in the palace in order to recreate the history of the nation in different periods. He creates paintings on many materials such as acrylic oil paints, synthetic materials or sculptures, but mainly works on lacquer. Bui Huu Hung has many works displayed at international art exhibitions. In 1982, three of his landscape lacquer works were exhibited at an exhibition in Warsaw, Poland. In 1983, he continued to have lacquer paintings to participate in international exhibitions, which is the painting "Still life by the window" displayed at the exhibition in Sophia, Bulgaria. In 1994, painter Bui Huu Hung together with other painters such as Truong Tan, Do Minh Tam, Le Hong Thai... established the group "Avand Garde" sponsored by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany at Exhibition Hall 29. Hang Bai, Hanoi. This exhibition resonated greatly with the art world of countries in the region. In 1996, Bui Huu Hung's name as a professional artist brought world-class status through the lacquer work "Old Stage" at the exhibition "Lacquer International" at Fujita Museum, Tokyo, Japan. Also in this year, painter Bui Huu Hung and painter Le Hong Thai were admitted to the World Lacquer Association. In 1997, painter Bui Huu Hung and artists Nguyen Tu Nghiem and Nguyen Chung were invited to attend the exhibition “Sacred Seasons” at Notices Gallery, Four Seasons Hotel, Singapore.
